Judges
A total of 3 judges will be confirmed, the following judges have been announced:
A Chartered Engineer (CEng),Julian has been an angel investor since 2007 and an entrepreneur since he formed his first business, STASYS, in 1986. Julian grew STASYS to a £17m+ business with 230 staff with subsidiaries in the US, Australia and Germany before selling it to Lockheed Martin in 2005. Julian’s management responsibilities at STASYS included Board level vision, direction and control, through to business development, operational, finance and technical leadership.
Julian has invested in a number of diverse technical and software businesses (see www.jranger.com). He also continues his entrepreneurial activities with his new business DAD (www.dadapp.com) and also at his innovation hub, iBundle (www.ibundle.co.uk), where he invites start-up entrepreneurs who are looking for backing and advice to contact him.
Reshma runs Seedcamp on a day-to-day basis as its CEO. She joined Seedcamp from the Venture team at 3i. Prior to 3i, Reshma spent over 3 years at Vodafone in their Commercial Strategy team, working across the Europe and Japan footprints in marketing strategy and pricing functions. Reshma started her career in the US in investment banking (Broadview) and venture capital (Softbank).
Hugh has worked in the IT industry since 1976. He joined Apple in 1979 when the personal industry was in its infancy. In 1985 he set up Taxan in Europe and over next 18 years managed a business which sold more than 5 million monitors and graphics adaptors.
His personal goal was to own and manage his own business and this was realised when he established TrustedReviews.com in 2003 and acquired bit-tech.net in 2005. He sold TrustedReviews.com in October 2007 to Time Warner/IPC Media and bit-tech.net in October 2008 to Dennis Publishing.
He is now involved with several start-up organisations and companies either as a mentor and/or investor. He also works with more established companies using his experiences to provide advice and an independent voice on strategy, performance, risk and people.
